Generative AI is being ever-more-widely adopted in today’s tech industry, but despite the many potential positives, it still comes with a host of negative connotations. In this virtual briefing, we explore the opportunities and threats AI presents to commercial enterprises, business leaders, and technologists.
So, WIRED asked Barton Friedland, Principle Advisory Consultant at Thoughtworks, and Emily Gorcenski, Head of Data and AI at Thoughtworks Germany to discuss with WIRED editor Amit Katwala how companies can sustainably implement AI as a tool to help improve their products and services.
“Language is always changing,” says Gorcenski, who notes that despite the recent rise of GenAI and the new forms of technological advancements to come, “People are [always] going to find ways to speak their own humanity in what they are doing.”
“Enabling people to do something different, that’s what’s different,” Friedland says, outlining this as an opportunity for company growth. Friedland points out that companies usually focus on risk avoidance, rather than risk management, and so, need to accept changes to add strategic value.
