*I guess it's a bit much to be praising Jane on a WIRED blog, but I listened to that, and that was pretty good. That was very Jane Metcalfe. There ought to be more Jane Metcalfe stand-in characters in science fiction novels. Even the dystopian ones could do with some Janes.
