Eno describing German synth rock

*I actually listen to a lot of this period music, because it's electronic but not in a way people do these days... it's jam music rather than tracks, loops and effects. Also the instruments are rather crude, so it somehow sounds both more artificial and more human.

*Eno is more lucid than this, however. "Stockhausen was an example of a charismatic theoretician who inspired a lot of people but whose own work is generally unlistenable." There are a ton of guys like Stockhausen: an avant gardiste in the middle of a swamp. He yells "Come over here!" and, excited by his cries, they all rise up in a body and go somewhere else entirely.

Explains a lot in a few paragraphs, really
