Transmediale 2018: "Face Value"

transmediale/festival
face value
31 Jan – 4 Feb 2018
HKW, Berlin

Things are what they are—but could they be different? Under the title of face value, transmediale 2018 is probing the values, as well as the processes of value creation, that have contributed to our present moment of extreme political, economic, and cultural divides. As populism gains traction and reactionary voices grow louder and louder in today's mediasphere and beyond, how can artists, cultural workers, and speculative theorists respond to the current politics of taking things at face value and, at the same time, face their own values? The festival, taking place from 31 January to 4 February 2018 at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, will feature a variety of curatorial formats and modes of knowledge exchange, from keynotes to performances, workshops and screenings.
First confirmed participants are Eric Baudelaire, CAMP (Shaina Anand & Ashok Sukumaran), Florian Cramer, Aria Dean, Demystification Committee, Angela Nagle, Lisa Nakamura, Stefan Panhans, and Andrea Winkler.
