1: Editorial by V. Vale
We're experimenting (again) with sending out newsletter in 2 installments - so it's more instantly "readable" instead of instantly "file-able." Please send feedback. Disclaimer: There are a small number of repeated entries, mostly having to do with administrative info and forthcoming events that we are involved in!

1A: Meet RE/Search at New York Art Book Fair
**NEW YORK** Thu-Sun Sept 21-24 Meet V. Vale RE/Search at the amazing New York Art Book Fair (white "Small Press" tent; NYABF). MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Ave on 46th Ave, Long Island City, Queens. RE/SEARCH #6/7: Industrial Culture Handbook HARDBACK

1B: Incredibly Strange Films back in print
Incredibly Strange Films is at long-last re-released in an 8x10" paperback version suitable for the new age of short-run digital book printing. Upon reading, the book seems not only FUN but amazingly relevant for today's new generation of independent filmmakers and videomakers. All kinds of suggestions and inspirations are geared toward inspiring all its readers at least want to make a film! $25 plus $5 ship ($22 ship overseas air).

1C: Terminal Punk: the last philosophy you will need
Terminal Punk: Philosophy of Punk. 7th edition by V. Vale (interviews, quotes, etc: why "Punk" is the last philosophy you'll ever need; it may even help you survive the apocalypse!). The new 7th edition zine may be had for a mere $10 plus $5 shipping, or come by our office and score your copy! You might also want to score a rare RE/Search T-shirt; we're already running out of the "small" and XL sizes! Other options are our William S. Burroughs T-shirt (M,L only), and our Mr. Death T-shirt (S,M,L,XL). In letters section below see a long review of Terminal Punk by Inga.

NEW: OFFS T-SHIRTS ("Johnny Too Bad") white design on black. M,L,XL, XXL: just 2 copies each! Very Limited Printing; $30 each. Contact RE/Search at info@researchpubs.com

1E: New comic tells Vale's life story
V. Vale Bio-Comic. SEARCH FOR WEIRD by Krusty Wheatfield: on V. Vale's life/biography). Excellent drawings! $10 plus $5 shipping ($10 overseas shipping).

1F: Ana Barrado in "Black & White"
Ana Barrado is featured in the August issue of "Black & White" magazine - rush to your newstand to find an issue! We just bought the last one from Smoke Signals in San Francisco (Sept 5). For just $9.95 you get over a dozen stunning photos along with a great introductory essay on Ana by Michael DiGregorio, and a lengthy interview. Ana's article is appropriately sub-titled, "The Woman Who Fell to Earth," and cites J.G. Ballard and RE/Search, dubbing her "an exquisite visual subversive." DiGregorio points out her "sense of whim; her appetite for absurdia wedded to human-built exaggeration; the glimpses of dark humor revealed within her Back to the Futurist meditation." On the cover is listed: "Ana Barrado: Disturbed Modernity." (And this is just one of the several super-well-produced, photo-illustrated articles in the large-format glossy magazine.)

1G: R.I.P. Paul Grady, punk doorman and Beat photographer
R.I.P. Paul Grady, sometime (teen-aged) doorman at Savoy Tivoli back in early Punk days working for Gerry & Olga (GO Productions), more recently working at Vesuvio's - also as doorman. Also did a stint at the fabled Enrico's on Broadway in the kitchen. A long-time North Beach resident, photographer of later Beats and North Beach scenes, lived on Romolo Alley and was V. Vale's neighbor. Died Sept. 4, 2017.
