IDSA in Detroit

*I know it's blackly ironic, but there's something grand, even indomitable, about industrial designers showing up in a city that a malfunctioning industrial base just freakin' leveled. Just, destroyed. I'm trying to think of a literary equivalent for this kind of professional bravery. Maybe international science fiction writers showing up for a celebration of Soviet socialist-realist sci-fi.

*I've been to Detroit a number of times. It's actually a beautiful area for a city and the food is great. Having hung out in Turin quite a while, I'm pretty sure I could have rather a good time living in Detroit.
