Warren Ellis recommending newsletters for 2016

*That looks pretty wack.

Newsletters

You've doubtless read the articles about "The Internet Of Newsletters." Which is weird for me, since I've been doing them since the mid-1990s. But there it is. Everyone's gone to the mattresses in 2016. You need a map to find all the players, because they're all firing from cover. So, in the interests of beautifying your inbox, let me provide a partial list of shooters.

Here is your road map to modern internet writing:
Deb Chachra's METAFOUNDRY. Deb's a materials scientist and professor, and is into tech, systems, design, space and basically everything.
Eliza Gauger's BOG KINGDOM DISPATCH. Eliza's an artist and writer and her last letter included an MRI scan of her large and weird brain.
Adam Rothstein's INTERDOME. Artist, writer and archivist on the Future Weird beat.
Julian Simpson's INFODUMP. Julian's a tv writer and director.
THE OVERPRINT, from the makers of the fine ALPINE REVIEW magazine. Sub link is in the top left.
STRANGE TELEMETRY, newsletter of the futures technology research group.
THE CROWD, an amazing download of links and goodies by the writer, activist and builder Sean Bonner.
Robin Sloan's newsletter, which has the sign-up at the bottom of this page. You all know Robin, I interviewed him here a few weeks back.
(DE)EXTINCTION CLUB, by m1k3y, which is an occasional and frequently massive essay-come-rant that is totally not the sermons of an asteroid death cult.
A DIFFERENT CLASS, Sarah Jaffe's weekly note from the front lines of labour journalism and also dog pictures apparently.
Technoccult News, which, I'm pleased to note, labelled itself in the most recent edition with "Hello from the Southeastern Corner of the United States."
Melissa Gira Grant's newsletter is always a pleasure: she is so fucking smart about writing.
Klint Finley, currently of the Mindful Cyborgs podcast, has always been worth reading.
Restricted Frequency is the newsletter of artist Ganzeer - they're almost as long as this one, and much more beautiful.
Ink Vault is Molly Crabapple's fortnightly newsletter.
Igor Schwarzmann's WIRED VANITY - he always finds good stuff.
Johannes Kleske's Productive Procrastination, which is a really good curation on writing
seriously, I am subscribed to ALL of these
FRACTAL INTERPOLATION: magic, folklore, technology, clever bastard
Doug Rushkoff's newsletter is usually a big download.
A WORKING LETTER from Mandy Brown - very irregular, but always deeply considered cultural thought.
CATERWAULING - Fortean stuff and High Weirdness from Ian Cat Vincent.
Okay. I think I've forgotten four or five, and I left a few off that are on hiatus or haven't gotten going yet, but, hell, the above definitely counts as a start.
