*Those of you who can remember the start of blogs an probably remember that they lacked the "setup, overhead and commitment level" of paper fanzines.
*I've often warned you on this blog that blogs are awaiting their status as dead media. You read this (by a guy who was there with his hands on the wheels and the switches) and you'll see why.
*I'll miss my blog here when it's gone, but I miss my paper fanzines, too. And I dare to surmise that my own paper fanzine, which topped out at around 300 subscribers, had a bigger social effect than this blog ever did.

And it’s not even the editor itself that created the main value. It was the fact that you could easily write and share a story without the setup, overhead, or commitment level of starting a blog. It’s clear that there are many more people who occasionally have valuable perspectives to share than there are people who want to be “bloggers.” These people love writing on Medium, even if they see it as just a tool to create a nice page to point people to from Twitter…."
