This weekend, X-Men: Apocalypse made about $80 million at the box office—a nice, tidy sum for a movie in a franchise that’s always been kind of on the bubble. X-Men movies are a big deal, with big stars, but they’ve never been at the level of Marvel Studios pictures or YA quadrilogies. They’re just kind of there.
And for good reason. They’re often hit-or-miss. And the latest—X-Men: Apocalypse—is either a hit or a miss depending on which one of the Monitor MCs you ask. Yes, on this week’s WIRED Culture podcast we have some differing opinions on how great (or not great) Bryan Singer’s latest X-Movie is. And we’re not afraid to share them.
We also, you’ll be excited to know, have some thoughts on who should be the new James/Jane Bond (::cough::Gillian Anderson::cough::) and some ideas for what you should be listening to when you’re not listening to this podcast. So sit back and put in your earbuds. We’ve got editors and writers Charley Locke, K.M. McFarland, and Angela Watercutter on the mic and we’re here to hash out a few things.
