Greetings from the Red Planet, Earthlings!
OK, so we’re not actually broadcasting The Monitor from Mars this week, but thanks to our lively chat about Ridley Scott’s new movie The Martian it sure feels like we’re on the fourth rock from the Sun.
Beyond the big screen, we’ve also got a lot of fall TV to catch up on. New shows, returning shows, shows that haven’t even aired yet—we’ve got deep thoughts on all of them! (Yes, we’re talking about Scream Queens again. No, that’s not all. Not by a long shot.)
So get ready, it’s time to strap yourself in to the Monitor rocket ship. Your pilots this week are editors and contributors Jordan Crucchiola, Peter Rubin, K.M. McFarland, and Angela Watercutter, and we’re ready to take you out beyond the stratosphere!
A few helpful links for things we talk about in the podcast:
-Angela Watercutter’s piece on the era of movies eclipsing the books on which they’re based -Jordan Crucchiola’s open letter to Ridley Scott following Exodus: Gods and Kings -This great moment from Scream Queens (this one, too). -WIRED edit fellow Charley Locke’s piece on her first viewing of Star Wars
