Fall TV is finally here and we need no longer rely on late-night talk shows to provide us with the bounty of sharable moments we seek to provide. Not that the summer hasn't been fun, but every workhorse deserves a break now and then, and scripted shows are back to provide relief for Conan and Seth and the Jimmys. John Oliver, however, we'll gladly keep going back to that well forever. So, in addition to the usual gang of idiots, we've got a little more Broad City for you, a dash of Saturday Night Live, and some scripted network TV fare in the form of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the new comedy Black-ish. Wash it all down with Funny or Die's take on True Detective and you've got a well-balanced television diet. Welcome back, autumn!
We would direct you to highlights in this seven-minute promo for *SNL'*s 40th season premiere, but citing 414 individual seconds would be obnoxious. So just watch this 37 times and ROFLYAO.
John Oliver is doing better long form journalism than anyone else on TV right now, and in this piece he basically turns the Miss America Pageant into something about as ridiculous as a real-life Drop Dead Gorgeous.
In case anyone wasn't sure if Key & Peele would still be funny after four seasons ... YEP! Still funny!
