As we all know, there is a little bit of maker in us all. No matter where that takes us on our own geeky journey and geek interests, there is something about being human that means we want to create, to solve problems and share that with the world. Just look at the year that has been, from innumerable Kickstarter projects, the resurgence of indie boardgames through the the amazing movement that has evolved from Caine's Arcade.
In another small corner, a couple of fellows have started their own little project to meet the maker and sharing needs they have. And I'm sure it will appeal to Geekdad readers.
Open Parachutes has come about to create simple solutions to everyday problems. The team consists of two men I only know as Jono and Damon. They introduce themselves and their project as such:
I like the introduction. It is simple and clean, like their philosophy. I am hoping to see thousands of small maker businesses emrge like this one in the coming years as we return to the value of building and making and sharing - while leveraging the power of the network and connecting globally.
Open Parachutes' first product is called the Cable Fondler. It is looking to help with that old geek issue of cables. This is a desktop cable management solution made from bamboo. I haven't got one yet, but it looks like a nice clean solution. It is $15 - and that includes worldwide shipping. More people should include shipping. You can check it out here.
