At PAX Prime this past weekend, we entertained (possibly!) a few hundred Penny Arcade Expo attendees with three solid hours of live game shows, loving homages to three of our favorite pieces of daytime television: Match Game, Family Feud and Super Password.

Consummate PR maven Stephanie Schopp hosted a version of Match Game with me on the panel alongside Loading Ready Run’s Graham Stark and Kathleen DeVere, BioWare’s Mike Laidlaw, Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb and Activision’s Dan Amrich. Things became rather ribald rather quickly, as they do. The presence of a small 12-year-old sitting front row center probably kept us from becoming even more inappropriate.

Then I hosted Family Feud, which we only screwed up on one time, which was a lot fewer times than I initially anticipated. We used this free Flash program to do it.

Finally, Dan took the hosting position for Super PAXword while I ran back and forth between Major Nelson and Sony’s Sid Shuman delivering clues.

In case you missed the video or Twitch’s livestream that evening, the archived video is embedded above. Big thanks to Penny Arcade Expo for actually letting us do this, and to Susan Arendt for coming up with the whole idea in the first place.

Note: Due to a technical glitch, the video for Game Show Night is attached to the video of the previous panel, “Harassment and Bullying In Online Games.” I’m told it was actually an excellent panel, so you could watch that, too! Game Show Night begins at around 2:25, Family Feud around 3:30 and PAXWord around 4:40.
