You don’t need a backyard telescope to glimpse the wonders of the universe. Just tune in for this live SLOOH SpaceCamera - Live Event" href="http://www.slooh.com/">Slooh Space Camera collaboration show to get gorgeous nebulas beamed straight to your computer starting at 3 p.m. PDT/6 p.m. EDT.

Using their telescope in the Canary Islands, the Slooh collaboration will tour some of the most spectacular and beautiful nebulas in the cosmos, including the Swan nebula, the Dumbell nebula, and the Eagle nebula. Slooh’s own Patrick Paolucci will be on hand along with Bob Berman from Astronomy magazine to discuss the birth and death of stars, which influences the creation of different nebulas.

Nebulas are enormous clouds of interstellar gas and dust that glow when light from nearby stars ionizes their constituent elements, as seen in many gorgeous and well-known space photos. The material in some nebulas collapses to generate new stars while other nebulas are formed when a dying star sloughs off layers of gas and dust. The Slooh show will elaborate this process while providing views of different celestial objects.
