Who says the cassette tape is a dead medium?
Artist Erika Iris has taken the defunct cassette tape and turned it into something jaw-droppingly beautiful. Her muses include The Beatles, Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Hendrix, and Lenny Kravitz, among others. Her film series uses movie reels and VHS tapes to great result, and feature iconic figures like Marylin Monroe and Alfred Hitchcock, as well as other more unusual (but certainly influential) people like Traci Lourdes. Of her art, Erika explains on her blog:
One of my favorite pieces is her Oscar Wilde. Just perfect!
Don't forget to check out her Flikr stream amazing works in progress, too.
