You Too Can Build an Electric Street Cart and Race the Streets of San Francisco

Geek extraordinaire and friend of GeekDad Gever Tully (he of 50 Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Kids Do fame) has an awesome event coming up to help support his alternative K-12 school in San Francisco. Over the weekend of March 17-18, teams will come together to design and build their own cars and race them in the first Grand Prix de la Mayonnaise!

Each team gets a box of parts and 13 hours to build a vehicle. No prior mechanical engineering experience required because experts from places like Tesla, TechShop, and ElectroAutomotive will be standing by to help and advise as needed. All parts and tools are supplied - just show up, meet your teammates, and start building - how cool is that?!

- every team receives exactly the same kit of high-end parts to build a 2, 3, or 4-wheeled electric vehicle
- build all day Saturday, March 17th
- test, tune, race on Sunday, March 18th
- bragging rights, friendly rivalries
