Most Mondays I pick five posts from the previous week in the geoscience blogosphere that caught my eye. I limit it to just five because I want those who are not already plugged into this community to get a manageable sampling of the awesome stuff out there.
Here's my list for September 26-October 2, 2011.
In case you missed it, Erik Klemetti of Eruptions is now hosted here with me at Wired Science. Check out his latest post about the flood basalts on the planet Mercury.
Callan Bentley of Mountain Beltway discusses the origin of the words used for the geologic time scale.
Alan Pitts of Not Necessarily Geology shares some great photos of a 340 million-year-old reef exposed in Ireland.
Ron Schott of Ron Schott's Geology Home Companion Blog proposes a weekly geology event using Google+'s 'hangout' feature.
Finally, in case you were worried the internet did not have enough cats, Evelyn Mervine of Georneys and Dana Hunter of En Tequila Es Verdad have created a blog devoted to geology and cats ... that's right, it's GeoKittehs! Feel free to submit a photo of you cat imitating geology.
