The student surpasses the master as androids take over from their human handlers in Robotropolis, from Star Trek: The Next Generation writer Christopher Hatton.
The clip, drawing from the Terminator template fueling TNT's Falling Skies series, reveals what happens when TV reporters try to do cutesy coverage of a futuristic 'bot facility – until the signal goes dead and the robots go nuts.
The actors won't be taking home any Oscars, but Robotropolis deserves an A for effort and a B for its classic B movie-style tagline: "They work like us. They play like us. They kill like us."
Writer-director Hatton and indie production company Bleiberg Entertainment have not set a release date for Robotropolis.
