Solution:
There were two hints in the puzzle. Ask Me which sounds a lot like ASCII and the number 9. If you decoded the QR-Code you get the hint ASCII and 9. The message was encoded using a shift cipher with a value of 9 and then encoded using ASCII. So what was it? Yes, there was a grammatical error in the message: "your" should have been "you're" -- an error my excellent editors would have caught had it not been encoded.
