That's what Timmy the ThinkGeek Monkey tweeted a mere three days ago. It seems that all you GeekDads out there have taken that message to heart as when Ken posted up a few of the stories yesterday, that number had risen to 6,844. And at the time of writing this little update, there are now over 8,000 entries. We're doing our best to go through them all, working in shifts around the clock, and around the globe, to continue feature some of our favorites here on GeekDad in celebration of Dad's Day.

So without further ado, here are a few that have tickled my fancy and pulled on my heart strings...

When I was seven – on Wednesday, May 25th, 1977, to be exact – my dad unexpectedly showed up at school around lunchtime to pick me up, telling my teacher that I had a doctor's appointment and had to leave school early with him. By the time we reached the fashion valley cinedome in San Diego a few minutes later, I realized that there was no doctor's appointment at all, and that instead we were playing hooky to see this new little movie he thought I might enjoy called " the Star Wars" on opening day.

That became a tradition two more times, as we both played hooky from school (and work) to go see Empire & Jedi. He's gone from this earthly plane now – but I'm sure dad's glowing jedi ghost still lingers every time I sit down to watch the films.

This story is no lie. My dad once rang me to ask how to use the pc. I told him to turn it on and use the mouse to go to my mum's login and click the left button on the mouse. After around 30 seconds I asked him if he'd done it. He said the mouse wasn't moving. I told him to check that it was plugged in. Yes, he said. Just then, my mum came home and I heard her laughing really loudly. He had picked up the mouse and tried to move it around like it was a wii controller. He has never lived it down.

My dad is the definition of an early adopter. Even in his youth, he had surround sound for his 8 tracks, a typewriter with built in whiteout, and he even jumped on the Apple bandwagon early. Age has not slowed him down, as my father is still on the cutting edge of tech, trends, and even memes. Almost any tech I own is a hand me down from pops, who has recently gotten the newer model. Months before any of my college age friends had heard of them, my dad was sending me Die Antword videos.

Needless to say, it's awful.

My Dad is a scientist, not only in title but in how he views the world. There was no "Why" question from our childhood that was not given full thought and consideration, and research if he couldn't think of an answer. In fact "Why" was not even needed, a simple comment may cause lecture mode to engage.

Well apparently one day my sister had enough. Looking out after a rain shower she spotted a rainbow, and excitedly pointed it out to the rest of us (we were all in primary school at the time). Dad begins to explain (again) how the light is caused by the bending of the light from the sun by the water droplets when my sister puts her hands on her hips.

"Daddy. Sometimes a rainbow can just be pretty."
