Each Monday I pick five posts from the previous week in the geoscience blogosphere that caught my eye. I limit it to just five because I want those who are not already plugged into this community to get a manageable sampling of the awesome stuff out there.
Here is my list for April 18-24, 2011:
- Zoltan Sylvester of Hindered Settling writes about vertical exaggeration in geologic illustrations, which sparks a rich conversation in the comment thread.
- Silver Fox of Looking For Detachment shares some great photos of floating desert islands.
- John Van Hoesen of Geological Musings in the Taconic Mountains hosts the latest installment of the geoscience blog carnival, The Accretionary Wedge, which asked participants to discuss how they'd like to include geology into their built environment.
- Matt Kuchta of Research at a Snail's Pace has some serious skills when it comes to analyzing sediment. Just watch.
- Erik Klemetti of Eruptions discusses certainty (and uncertainty) in science within the context of the film 'Supervolcano'.
Enjoy!
* This digest is what catches my eye throughout the week. With scores of posts a week from geoscience blogs I'm sure to miss a lot. Don't hesitate to let me know about other great posts in the geoblogosphere via Twitter, e-mail, or in the comment thread.
