Each Monday I pick five posts from the previous week in the geoscience blogosphere that caught my eye. I limit it to just five because I want those who are not already plugged into this community to get a manageable sampling of the awesome stuff out there.
Here is my list for January 31-February 6, 2011:
- Anne Jefferson of Highly Allochthonous continues her great blogging of the numerous floods impacting people around the globe.
- Callan Bentley of Mountain Beltway asked geologists to turn their favorite geological features into an edible treat. The result is perhaps the best Accretionary Wedge (geoscience blog carnival) I've ever seen.
- Jessica Ball of Magma Cum Laude has a great post about the types of plants that live on the flanks of volcanoes -- with some examples from her own field travels.
- Ole Nielsen of olelog discusses how the study of modern lakes can improve our understanding of ancient oceans.
- Finally, go check out Mountain Cat Geology, which has been very active lately with posts from several undergrad geology students writing about what they find interesting and cool in the world of Earth science.
Enjoy!
* This digest is what catches my eye throughout the week. With scores of posts a week from geoscience blogs I'm sure to miss a lot. Don't hesitate to let me know about other great posts in the geoblogosphere via Twitter, e-mail, or in the comment thread.
