Each Monday I pick five posts from the previous week in the geoscience blogosphere that caught my eye. I limit it to just five because I want those who are not already plugged into this community to get a manageable sampling of the awesome stuff out there.
Here is my list for November 29-December 5, 2010:
- Suvrat Kher of Rapid Uplift is starting a series called 'Remotely India' where he shares an image of some part of India and discusses the geology.
- Callan Bentley of Mountain Beltway shares some photos and thoughts about the Neoproterozoic Konnarock Formation, which has a nice assortment of glacially influenced sedimentary deposits.
- Daniel of sandbian uses the arsenic-and-life hoopla from last week to discuss skepticism in science.
- Speaking of extra-Earth science in Science, Chris from Highly Allochthonous discusses a paper with implications for Earth-like rocky planets outside our solar system.
- Ron Schott of Ron Schott's Geology Home Companion Blog has the latest Where on (Google)Earth puzzle. He also includes a nice plot of number of WoGE posts per month since the puzzle's inception nearly four years ago.
Finally, I want to mention my own post from last week about usage of technical terminology and jargon in science blogging (not because I think it's awesome, rather I'm hoping to get a bit more discussion going).
Enjoy!
* This digest is what catches my eye throughout the week. With scores of posts a week from geoscience blogs I'm sure to miss a lot. Don't hesitate to let me know about other great posts in the geoblogosphere via Twitter, e-mail, or in the comment thread.
