It cost Disney $140 million and two years to create the spectacular world of Tron: Legacy. Oklahoma City geek Kyle Roberts made his own stop-motion tribute to the fictional sci-fi saga for no money in 22 hours on the floor of his kitchen.
"We wanted to emulate the grid-like aspect of the 1982 Tron arcade game," Roberts told Wired.com in an e-mail. The Reckless Abandonment Pictures filmmaker and his pals sequenced more than 800 photos over the course of a marathon all-nighter to produce Tron: Speed of Light, embedded above.
"I'm a nerd and love to make nerdy things cool," says Roberts.
Mission accomplished – the indie filmmaker previously gained web notoriety for the YouTube mashups Iron Man vs. Batman and Wall-E Meets Michael Jackson.
