Although it just debuted Oct. 20, the first issue of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s highly anticipated sequel comic Kick-Ass 2 has already sold out.
Issue No. 1 of Kick-Ass 2, which follows wannabe crime-fighter Dave Lizewski as he gets schooled in superheroics by tiny dynamo Hit-Girl, will be reissued with two variant covers (shown above and below).
Millar and Romita's postmodern wish-fantasy series, wherein a bunch of geeks don costumes and become lethal enforcers, has already fared well in the film department. Shot for $30 million, director Matthew Vaughan's Kick-Ass scored $96 million worldwide.
If Vaughan's film sequel, Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, performs equally well when it's released in 2012, Millar could end up in Alan Moore territory as one of Hollywood's favorite comic-book virtuosos.
