If you're not familiar with the DonorsChoose project you should check it out. The way it works is so simple and ingenious. Teachers post about their project/module and what supplies, equipment, or funding they need to make it happen. Then you choose which project you'd like too donate to. What I like about this set-up is that it often doesn't take a huge amount to make the project of your choice a reality.
I donated last year to a teacher who needed funding to get materials for a rocks lab for her elementary school class. A few months later I received a personal note and photographs from the teacher and students thanking me. Actually seeing with my own eyes the kids doing the lab with the materials I helped the teacher get was awesome. What a great idea.
This year there's a Science Bloggers for Students* page with several groups and networks listed so far. There's both a Geo & Ocean Bloggers page and a Wired Science Blogs page. I really wanted to set up my own giving page this year but I am headed out for a month of overseas traveling tomorrow and will miss the entire drive (October 10th -- November 9th).
But I wanted to use this opportunity to let you all know about the cause and consider donating. If you check out Geo & Ocean Bloggers page and/or the Wired Science Blogs page you'll find various bloggers you probably already read that have chosen science projects that interest them.
Please check it out, there are a bunch of very cool science projects that you could make a reality.

* Huge thanks to HP for matching all the donations in the Science Bloggers section. The total amount the science blogging community raises will be doubled!
