San Francisco's historic Seals Stadium may have been demolished more than 50 years ago, but thanks to Google Earth, home plate has once again been found.
Former Wired editor Todd Lappin recently dug into the software's latest rev, which contains the ability to search historical imagery. Blogging over at Laughing Squid, Lappin worked with Burrito Justice to determine that home plate of the stadium — which put Joe DiMaggio and San Francisco baseball in general on the map — can be traced to the PC aisle of an Office Depot on 16th Street.
Lappin even marked the spot with an X before scouting out the other bases:
