Thor gets the jump on Spidey in 2011 now that Spider-Man 4 has been bumped due to production hassles.

Kenneth Branagh doesn't even start directing Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman in the action epic based on Marvel Comics' Norse mythology-themed superhero for another few days.

But the film, initially slated for May 20, 2011, leap-frogged over Spidey to claim the tentpole-friendly May 6 release date and kick off the 2011 summer movie season.

Paramount Pictures' grabbed the plum slot for the live-action Thor movie after Sony Pictures pushed back its Tobey Maguire-starring Spider-Man sequel to an undetermined date, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Disney also set a May 20 release date for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
