Green Lantern: First Flight is set to regale fanboys and fangirls during an early preview screening at Comic-Con International. The direct-to-DVD animated movie will screen in the San Diego Convention Center’s Ballroom 20 at 8 p.m. on July 23. That’s five days before First Flight drops out of space and onto store shelves.
To hype the latest film in DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ animated series, the comics powerhouses have launched a Facebook promotion to get Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman nuts on board with Green Lantern, a time-honored hero just landing his first dedicated film.
Interested parties can power up Facebook widgets that need, like Green Lantern’s power ring, to be continuously recharged to satisfy eligibility for prizes like a PlayStation 3, a 40-inch HDTV and a Blu-ray version of the film. If they don’t feel like recharging their lanterns, they can also goof around with the widget’s peripheral content, which includes a personality quiz, Green Lantern IQ test, videos, news and downloads.
Get it while you can, because after Green Lantern: First Flight‘s release, the hype machine gears back up for Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, featuring two way more recognizable heroes. Which is not to say that Green Lantern can’t hang with his Justice League homeboys: He’s just not the Man of Steel or the Dark Knight. Some heroes are born unlucky.
