They tried suicide bombers. They tried hijacked planes. They even tried to get a hold of biological weapons. But now, an al-Qaeda-affiliate has unleashed the most diabolical plot of all: A rapping jihadist, busting rhymes in English. No, this is not an April Fool's Day joke.
Actually, the verses, from a fellow calling himself "Abu Mansour al-Amriki," are more stoner mumble than Marshall Mathers, more poetry-night reject than Public Enemy. (Here's a sample.)
I suppose this is some sort of lame attempt to lure some American kids to the terrorist side. After all, Somalia’s al-Qaeda affiliate, Shabab al Mujahideen, recently made headlines by recruiting Americans, including the apparent first American suicide bomber, to join their war against Somalia’s moderate Islamist government.
But if you're going to try to reach the Hip-Hop Nation, you're going to have to do better than the jihadist answer to MC Karl Rove. Beats calling Barack Obama as "house Negro," I guess.
