If the original* Punch-Out!!* lacked anything it was a chance to beat up your friends. Nintendo has remedied that issue with the upcoming Wii sequel, as demonstrated by this new handful of screens from the game's multiplayer mode.
Notice the gigantic, angry version of Little Mac seen in the fourth image? That's "Giga Mac." Fulfilling certain conditions during the match allows you to turn your generally diminutive fighter into the behemoth, complete with all the additional muscle that comes with spontaneous enlargement.
Given that the series is best known for forcing players to learn the patterns of their computerized foes to earn victory, I'm wondering how Nintendo plans to reconcile that gameplay style with the unpredictable pugilism of a human foe.
Either this multiplayer mode is going to be a perfect complement to the inherently repetitive singleplayer fighting, or button mashing is going to render it a cheap, rarely used gimmick. I'm hoping for the former, but scratching my head, wondering how the game's developers can avoid the latter.
