Southpeak Interactive has revealed a gorgeous pre-rendered trailer for its latest project, a first-person shooter from TimeGate Studios dubbed Section 8.
Unfortunately, the title of the Xbox 360- and PC-bound game — while certainly gritty in a way most likely to appeal to teenage boys — raises more questions than it answers.
As you may know, colloquially speaking, a "section 8" is anyone deemed mentally unsound by the military. Generally those people are ejected from said military as a result of the psychological classification.
Assuming our armed forces of tomorrow haven’t completely reversed their stance on either handing guns to psychopaths or their naming schemes regarding military dismissal, why is our (presumably) best hope against the game’s no doubt alien/robotic/futuristic menace a corps of lunatics? And who was the genius who gave them power armor?
Hopefully we’ll get an answer to these questions when the game hits retail in the fourth quarter of this year.
