Cewebrity gets the egghead treatment in Internet Famous Class, a course at Parsons The New School for Design that teaches students how to maximize their online exposure.
"This class is all about the art and science of getting hits, getting eyeballs, extracting stuff out of the attention economy," says Jamie Wilkinson, the self-described "internet scientist" who delves into the finer points of thumbnail optimization in the class.
Student Andrew Mahon is on his way to the kind of fame that will earn him an "A." Mahon’s been doing stunts, like riding a bike around New York City dressed in a thong, and documenting them on his website, FamousAndrew.com.
How do you get a good grade in Internet Famous Class? Become an online buzz machine for yourself or your work.
"All the students’ grades are a function of an algorithm that goes out and finds out how famous they are on the internet," Wilkinson tells Current TV in a short video documentary (embedded) about the class.
