Seattle-based PopCap saw an 85 percent annual retail revenue jump during 2008, despite a crumbling economy and the surprising 14 percent decrease in PC game sales over the same period, reports Edge.
Though PopCap's numerous, inexpensive (read: under $20) titles sold well throughout the entire year, the company experienced an even larger boost in the fourth quarter owing to the release of the hyper-addictive Bejeweled Twist.
Interesting to note, particularly in our current economic maelstrom, is PopCap's claim that, since the series launch in 2001 *Bejeweled *has "generated over $300 million in consumer spending."
It certainly doesnt hurt things that at least one version of Bejewled is available on almost every electronic device in existence, but the $300 million sales figure and low price point should convince those few who have yet to try Bejewled to give it a chance.
