While shows like *Aqua Teen Hunger Force *and Robot Chicken got most of the mainstream attention amongst Adult Swim's lineup, an affectionate parody of the rock 'n' roll world flourished through its second season.
Metalocalypse is a 21st-century, death-metal take on the music-based cartoons of yesteryear like Josie and the Pussycats and Scooby Doo. Created by Brendon Small (Home Movies), each episode is a day in the life of the faithfully dimwitted, eternally stoned brutal group, Dethklok. And, yes -- in classic Saturday morning kid cartoon style -- each episode ends in a song.
The second season is now available on DVD for the first time, and the two-disc set is a great addition to any fan of Adult Swim's unique brand of postmodern lunacy.
