Marriage, Galactica Style

Think you're committed to the geek lifestyle? Really? Oh, sure, you speak Klingon and you own one of those really authentic lightsaber props. You met your spouse via the personal ads in the back of Brian Michael Bendis' lettercol in Powers. Your 5,000-word treatise on why Sisko is the most underrated Starfleet captain is an internet classic.

But your actual wedding was not this cool:

From the blog of Mark Verheiden (writer on all kinds of genre stuff including Heroes, Smallville, the movie My Name Is Bruce and, most germanely, *Battlestar *Galactica) comes this vital piece of geek awesomeness:

BSG (now CSI) writer Bradley Thompson went and got hitched the other night, and he did so in grand style. The officiator was none other than
Admiral Adama himself, Edward James Olmos, in a ceremony that concluded with a rousing "SO SAY WE ALL!" It was a great party and a blast to see so many members of the BSG cast and crew again. Reminding me that BSG
will be back for the final episodes starting in January!

I remember hearing that, back when Star Trek: The Experience was still open at the Las Vegas Hilton, you could get married on the bridge of the Enterprise-D, in uniform, with a Klingon officiant. But having Adama perform your ceremony ... well, that's transcendent.

Laurence Fishburne's debut episode of CSI airs this Thursday -- he's replacing William Petersen as head of the squad -- and I think it's the first ep credited to the just-married Thompson and his writing partner, David Weddle.
