Security contractors: Worried the Iraq security pact may cramp your style? Anxiously watching the feds go after the Blackwater shooters? Well, there's still work for you... in Afghanistan.
According to a solicitationupdated today, the government is looking to hire armed guards to protect installations in southern Afghanistan. The announcement says hired guns are needed to work in the provinces of Farah, Nimroz, Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, and Day Kundi.
But these guys wont just be glorified warzone rent-a-cops. Tasks will include "conducting surveillance and counter-surveillance" and "employing the appropriate force to neutralize any threat," the solicitation says.
This, however, is a strictly BYO AK-47 affair. According to the solicitation, the U.S. Government "will not provide any weapons or ammunition to contractors, their subcontractors, or any employees of the same."
