Some online music reviews appear to have been written by aliens, children, or teams of highly-motivated infants. How else might their fractured syntax, botched spelling and infantile, near-extra-terrestrial viewpoints be explained?
Of these poorly-written music reviews, a tiny slice was written that way on purpose as hyper-clever commentary from "Bryan Evening," the pseudonym of the guitarist from a band you may have heard of. Evening has long held forth on a wide range of artists in comments sections around the web, on Amazon, Yahoo and elsewhere.
If you've spent any amount of time reading comments on music sites, you'll recognize his style. Here's the initial take on Oasis:
Or how about the beginning of his Uncle Kracker review?
I still think Evening's work looks best in its natural habitat, but suppose it makes more sense to centralize his writing in one place so fans can get their fill. And besides, the chapbook (yes, there was one) is out of print.
If hell is other people's inane music commentary, heaven is their inanity aped to perfection. It's that good!
