Although news come out last week of the upcoming Xbox 360 port in Japan of arcade side-scrolling shmup Deathsmiles, Cave has now launched an official website to start promoting the game.
The new site reveals a few details about the "Gothic Lolita" shooter, including a look the box art, as well as a few screenshots that confirm that the game will not be going widescreen for the console release, but instead be bordered, like the Xbox Live Arcade version of Ikaruga.
A general release date for the game is also announced, slated for Spring 2009.
An attached blog -- to be updated weekly -- kicks things off with a contest that will offer prize packs including a Deathsmiles DVD and sountrack.
I think it's fairly evident that I'm rather excited at the prospect of playing Deathsmiles at home on my 360, and I'm already planning on getting a stick controller to properly replicate the arcade gameplay.
