Prices for Blu-ray discs and players are coming down from crazy-expensive to just a little expensive.
A slew of Blu-ray titles -- including Shoot 'Em Up, Troy, 300, and Pan's Labyrinth -- are going for $20 each, after a $15 mail-in rebate from Best Buy, while a bunch of Warner titles (such as A Clockwork Orange, Swordfish and The Aviator) are going for $15.00 after a $10 mail-in rebate, according to Home Media Magazine.
Best Buy also told the magazine that prices for some Blu-ray players have dropped to between $300 and $350, fueling hope that it could be a must-buy gift for the holidays.
"Prices have come down to the point where [Blu-ray] no longer is a huge investment for a family . . . We think it might be the sweet spot for the holidays this year," a Best Buy spokesman told Home Media Magazine.
Okay, we get it: Drop prices now and push Blu-ray ahead of the holidays. Still, it would probably be an easier sale if prices were comparable to your standard DVD player or disc.
