Seeing an opportunity in a market that's still sorting itself out, the company will release two players at CEDIA 2008 next week, the BDP-6003 and BDP-5003.

The BDP-6003 will include BD Live capability (at Profile 2.0.), composite S- and component video and HDMI 1.3 outputs, and of course, 1080p DVD upscaling. It also comes with a 5.1-channel analog output, which means people won't have to upgrade their older sound systems. That's important, because the player will run up to $500 -- serious change for a player without other significant integrated functions.

The BDP-5003 will include a two-channel analog output, and come in with a profile of 1.1.

Sherwood Labs is often credited with producing the first available digital audio readout tuners and computer-controlled tuners. Most recently, they produced a line of DVD players that received favorable reviews, but were most notable because of their expensive price and heavy casings.
