
Blockbuster has a clever plan to win new members -- pay them $25 apiece to sign up for a subscription.
Granted, it's not much -- a PayPal credit worth slightly more than one-month's premium service, but at a time when the company aims to reduce advertising and promotion costs, $25 apiece in customer acquisition could be rich.
At last check, Blockbuster had 3.2 million subscribers, while Netflix had 8.4 million subscribers.
