The past few days have seen plenty of leaked details regarding the upcoming arcade fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Here’s what we know so far.
The biggest news is that the game, which pits Capcom’s fighting game characters versus a team of superheroes from the legendary animation studio Tatsunoko, will be released to Japanese arcades in December 2008.
A promotional flyer for the game reveals that it will have a four-button layout, which is being compared to the one found in current 2-D arcade fighter Sengoku Basara X.
As far as characters that we currently know will be included, on the Tatsunoko side we find:
Eagle Ken (Science Ninja Team Gatchaman)
Casshern (Neo-Human Casshern)
Tekkaman (Tekkaman: The Space Knight)
Yatterman No. 1 (Yatterman)
Hurricane Polymar (Hurricane Polymar)
Gold Lightan (Golden Warrior Gold Lightan)
On the Capcom side, so far we have:
Ryu (Street Fighter)
Chun Li (Street Fighter II)
Batsu (Rival Schools)
Alex (Street Fighter III)
Morrigan (Darkstalkers)
Soki (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams)
The first location test for the game is happening in Tokyo this weekend, but since I’m out of the country for a few weeks I won’t be able to cover it. You can bet this is but the first of many, and so I’ll hopefully get some hands-on time soon enough.
