As an expat gamer living in Japan, it's been great to have the PS3 be region-free in terms of game releases, but it looks like the company's upcoming virtual space will not be so embracing of the global village concept.
According to a Sony representative, PlayStation Home's public spaces will be limited to your regional location. You will be able to visit anyone's private space though, which is a small consolation I guess.
But more than just a ban on international socializing, the region lock should mean that promotional events and tournaments -- which are some of the features Sony has promised in the past -- won't be open to everyone.
