Via Hack a Day, here’s an interesting use of an accelerometer and a Whiffle bat to produce motion-style controls on the Commodore 64.
The hack began with adapting a Nintendo Entertainment System controller for use with the classic personal computer, but eventually they stuck an accelerometer on top of a baseball bat, and once the thing reaches a certain speed, it presses the "fire" button on the C64’s joystick.
Perfect for playing Street Sports Baseball and, uh, nothing else.
