On a recent WNYC radio call-in show, I argued that cellphones should be allowed at rock concerts in part because Prince’s cover of Radiohead’s "Creep" at Coachella — one of the defining moments of 2008 — was filmed using a cellphone or other portable video device.
If cellphones and similar devices were banned from venues, Prince even have to bother having the video taken down; it would never have been uploaded in the first place.
Now, Weezer have gotten in on the act with their own "Creep" cover, this one played by around fifty guitarists, a chamber orchestra, various percussionists and a male/female chorus as part of a "secret" sing-a-long show at Oaks Park in Portland, Oregon.
Musically, I’ll take Prince’s version over this one, although the effect of all of these people singing it together does have a certain chilling effect on the spine (in a good way):
