NASA is inviting people to submit their names, to be transported to the Moon onboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. People of all ages can go to the website at

NASA is inviting people to submit their names, to be transported to the Moon onboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.

People of all ages can go to the website at and add your name (plus the names of your young 'ens, if you feel so inclined) to their database. This database will then be placed on a microchip and installed onboard the LRO. Once each name is entered, you can print out a certificate of participation in the project.

"Everyone who sends their name to the moon, like I'm doing, becomes part of the next wave of lunar explorers," said Cathy Peddie, deputy project manager for LRO at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. "The LRO mission is the first step in NASA's plans to return humans to the moon by 2020, and your name can reach there first. How cool is that?"

All submissions must be in by June 27, 2008. The LRO is scheduled to launch in late 2008.
