New Zealand’s rap-funk-comedy folk duo Flight of the Conchords do a lot of fretting over the womenfolk on their HBO series, but watching this video (right) it seems as though if they strutted their roller-skating skills more they’d have more than one fan. (Sorry, Mel.)
This clip for "Ladies of the World" transforms Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement into the kind of suave, 70s-styled roller studs (nice ‘stache Jermaine!) that make women swoon harder than John Cusack with a boom-box over his head.
"Ladies," from the band’s current full-length debut on Sub Pop, is the kind of pseudo-Lothario jam that has made these Kiwis famous. But its video cranks the joke up to 10. It’s like one of the great musical interludes from their show, but more fully-formed with dreamy soft-focus sequences and such. And their wheel tricks are just amazing.
The Grammy-winning duo is currently on tour, and if this video is any indication those boogie nights will be alright.
