Wallpaper Tunes Up T Rex, Remixes Your Subs

Technology has accomplished some amazing things when it comes to music, but some of them I’d like to give back. Autotuning, for example. Its ability to compress a vocal’s singularity into vanilla is maddening, but on the other hand it has leveled the dance floor. You used to have to be Cameo to get sexy and synthetic. Now you can be Daft Punk or Wallpaper.

Wallpaper’s retro disco funk on their effort T Rex is so heavily filtered and processed that it sounds like robots having car sex. This may be the point, but it still could use some flavor. Since they’re good sports, they’re offering you the chance to make that happen. In a reversal of the standard remix contest approach, the public has been invited to submit sounds for the group to remix by April 17. They’ll post their results on April 29 — the digital release date for T Rex. AIFF and WAV files are preferred, but they’ll take anything. So, it seems, will their machines.
