It's been quite a while since we've heard news of artists performing in virtual worlds like Second Life and Doppelganger. Either it's no longer a big deal when an artist plays "live" in a virtual world, the performances aren't gaining a lot of traction in general or we just haven't been hearing about them as much.
For the record, if you hear of bands that are playing substantive liveshows in a virtual world, drop me a line. With enough responses, maybe we cantry to put together some sort of weekly directory.
In the meantime, Natasha Bedingfield fans and their parents might be interested to hear that she and her avatar plan to play a live acoustic show in the teen-oriented virtual world Habbo Hotel on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
They lyrics of Bedingfield's title track, "Pocketful of Sunshine," appear to concern LSD but more likely revolve around a newly-requited crush (courtesy of MetroLyrics):
